Contemporary Medical Acupuncture applies evidence-based concepts of acupuncture to relieve pain, alter movement patterns and improve physical and athletic performance. During treatment, needles are inserted into anatomically defined sites on the body; they may be stimulated with electricity. Contemporary Medical Acupuncture is a very safe and effective treatment. Most patients feel minimal to no discomfort as the needles are inserted.

Some of the scientifically proven benefits of acupuncture include pain relief, inflammation reduction, improved blood flow, stress reduction, improved nerve conduction and improved range of motion. Acupuncture is commonly used as one component of a larger holistic treatment plan.

Conditions that are commonly treated by acupuncture include:

  • Sport-related injuries
  • Musculoskeletal pain problems: Neck pain, shoulder pain, low back pain, joint pain
  • Chronic pain: Headaches, sciatica
  • Stress-related issues
  • Menstrual problems
